Ruud van Nistelrooy has held talks with Burnley and is in the frame to become the club’s new head coach.
Burnley are searching for their successor to Vincent Kompany, who was appoint as Bayern Munich head coach last month despite the Lancashire club’s relegation from the Premier League.
Van Nistelrooy is one of several candidates under consideration by Burnley, who have interviewed former Hull City head coach Liam Rosenior. Assistant coach Craig Bellamy — who was place in interim charge following Kompany’s departure — Scott Parker and West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberan are also candidates. Frank Lampard had previously emerged as a contender but now appears unlikely to succeed Kompany.
However, Burnley want to bring in him as manager to replace Vincent Kompany, who left to manage Bayern Munich last month.
